David Piper and Friends

Greg Krueger (recording engineer) and I began work on this album in February with the goal of finishing by the end of the year. We accomplished that goal and this night is the culmination of the work. Together with nearly all the musicians who played on the album, we will present all thirteen songs on Trail. JC Hyke is a songwriter who runs a weekly show at this restaurant in Arcadia, CA, featuring other songwriter acts. It's a nice vibe venue, and very supportive to songwriters. JC asks that one of the four songs that you play is a cover (song penned by someone other than yourself) and the other three original. Earl Grey and I (Piper-Grey) played there thus past Tuesday (7-12-16) and played the following songs: "Wind Up Clock", "Ioway" and "Open Sails", Piper-Grey. Wild Horses (Jagger/Richards/Parsons) was the cover tune we performed. Truly a nice evening with many excellent performances.  

Piper-Grey will perform a full set on this night in this fine little theatre in South Pasadena, 9-13-15. also playing: Paul Zollo, John M., and Tedrow/Kaye.

David Piper and Earl Grey play guitar and sing, and they will be joined by Greg Samuel (flugal horn, trombone and stand up bass) and Wendysue Rosloff (percussion). David Piper is a performing songwriter based in Los Angeles. Since 2005, he has been performing with Earl Grey as part of the duo, "Piper-Grey", and together they produced their debut album entitled "Apples" (Trough Records) in 2008 to critical acclaim. Piper has published three solo albums, all on Trough Records as well; "Lucky Penny" in 2000, "All My Angels Past" in 2002 and "Lemonade Shoes" in 2005. Piper just released a book he finished, started by his father, Keith Piper, called "The Single Wing and a Prayer". The book chronicles Keith Piper's life in football as a head coach at a small college in Ohio, and outlines his version of an antiquated offense, the single wing.
